Ryan completed his medical school (2015) and Anatomical Pathology residency training (2020) at Dalhousie University, and a dermatopathology fellowship at NS Health (2020-21). He holds an ICDP-UEMS International Diploma in Dermatopathology (2022), and continues to practice in Halifax where he maintains an active role in medical education.
